December 10 - December 15, 2026

Roots, Culture & Restoration

Mexico City Marathon

A 5-Night Curated Black/Mexican Cultural Experience

Come experience Mexico City beyond tourism.

Mexico City is a place where ancient civilizations, contemporary culture, food, art, spirituality, nature, and community converge. Plus a place where Black folks are thriving!

Roots, Culture & Restoration is a five-night curated group experience designed for people who want to explore Mexico before and after the Rock and Roll Half Marathon that happens on December 13th, while also creating space to slow down, connect, learn, and experience the vibes of Mexico City.

This is not a packed tour where every hour is scheduled. We will move intentionally—balancing exploration with rest, group experiences with personal time, wellness activities, and Mexico City's incredible urban energy with opportunities to connect with cultural experiences.

Our trip will center around participation in the Rock 'n' Roll Mexico City event taking place on Sunday, December 13, 2026. It features a half marathon (21.1 km) and a 10K race along Paseo de la Reforma, accompanied by live music and an after-party festival.

Race Schedule & Details

  • Date: Sunday, December 13, 2026

  • Start Time: 7:00 AM for the Half Marathon

  • Location: Paseo de la Reforma Avenue (near Auditorio Nacional)

  • Finish Festival: Campo Marte (7:00 AM – 11:00 AM)

Mexico City Itinerary

Roots, Culture & Restoration

Come before and after the marathon and hangout in Mexico City with other Black runners!!!!

THE EXPERIENCE

Ancient Roots | Teotihuacán

Journey outside Mexico City to the ancient city of Teotihuacán, one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Americas. Yes, this is where Black indigenous folks anchored this region before Spanish conquest and colonization.

Explore the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, learn about the civilizations that shaped this sacred landscape, and create space to reflect on ancestry, civilization, knowledge, and our relationship to the past.

Culture | Mexico City

Experience the neighborhoods, food, architecture, markets, museums, music, and everyday rhythms that make Mexico City one of the world's great cultural centers.

Our itinerary will create opportunities to explore places such as Roma Norte, Condesa, Chapultepec, Centro Histórico, Coyoacán, and other cultural spaces while still leaving room for spontaneous discovery.

Nature | Waterfall Journey

Leave the intensity of the city for a restorative day surrounded by mountains, water, and nature.

Our waterfall excursion provides an opportunity to move, breathe, reflect, and reconnect with the natural environment.

Restoration | Slow Down

Travel does not have to mean exhaustion.

The experience intentionally includes open mornings, café time, parks, wellness opportunities, reflection, and unscheduled periods where participants can simply enjoy being in Mexico.

Community | Travel Together

Some of the most meaningful parts of travel happen around a table, during a long ride, on a walk, or through an unexpected conversation.

This experience creates space for connection among people interested in culture, wellness, community, creativity, entrepreneurship, and living with greater intention.

***Itinerary subject to change with additional fun activities ***

10 PM - Option evening activities

—————————————————————————————————————————-

Option 2: On your own:

11:00 AM — Chapultepec + Anthropology
Head to Bosque de Chapultepec and spend about 2 hours at the National Museum of Anthropology. For a group visiting Mexico City, this gives you the historical foundation—Mexica/Aztec, Maya and Mexico's Indigenous civilizations—before exploring Centro.

1:30 PM — Lunch + Centro Histórico
Go into Centro and have a classic Mexican lunch at El Cardenal Tacuba. Afterward, walk a compact route:

Palacio de Bellas Artes → Alameda Central → Palacio Postal → Calle Madero → Zócalo → Metropolitan Cathedral → Templo Mayor area.

This gives us a lot of site seeing with Mexico City's history without constantly getting back into a car.

4:30 PM - Coffee / reset / Return to hotel
This is where I'd deliberately leave some breathing room. If the rain comes, stay in Centro for coffee, museums or shopping. Heavy summer rain can create traffic delays, so don't over-schedule cross-city travel.

7:00 PM —Dinner (ALL)

Day 3: Saturday, December 12, 2026

Light breakfast (on your own)

9 AM - Light morning run and jog near the running location of the Marathon / local beautiful park

11 AM- Brunch and delicious meal (optional)

12 PM - Hotel / Airbnb - Refresh

2:00–3:30 PM |- Roma Norte stroll
Explore without a strict agenda: Plaza Río de Janeiro → Colima Street → Álvaro Obregón. Stop at boutiques, galleries, bookstores or a café whenever something catches your attention.

3:30–5:00 PM |- Parque México + Condesa
Head toward Parque México and walk part of Avenida Amsterdam. This is less about sightseeing and more about getting a feel for the city—people, architecture, trees, cafés and street life.

6:00 - 8:00 PM - Dinner

Day 5: Monday, December 14, 2026

Light breakfast (on your own)

5:30 - 6:00 AM - Escape Mexico City for a full-day adventure to Tolantongo’s thermal springs, turquoise river, caves, and waterfalls. After breakfast in Actopan, arrive ready to explore with towels, a backpack, headlamp, phone protector, sunscreen, and snacks provided. Soak in warm hillside pools, venture through caves and waterfalls, then swim and relax by the river before heading back to Mexico City.

7:00 PM - Back in Mexico City
