OBSIDIAN EDGE
Principal, Obsidian Edge
Nile Malloy is an interdisciplinary strategist working across the nonprofit, public, philanthropic, education, and private sectors—advancing social, climate, environmental, economic, sustainability, and youth development initiatives. He has led environmental, economic, and climate policy work in California—one of the largest economies in the world—and contributed to the development of climate justice policy, multimillion-dollar funds, and community development initiatives.
Nile is actively engaged in international partnerships as a board member of the Council of African Youth Advocates, the Royal African Company, and Skylink Agro Foods Limited, and as a member of the Black Professionals in International Affairs Africa Working Group, where he focuses on strengthening diaspora connections across strategy, funding, and business development. In 2025, he rebranded his consulting practice and launched Obsidian Edge, a coaching and consulting firm dedicated to advancing equitable resource distribution and transforming systems through human centered design, systems thinking, and strategic visioning. Through leadership coaching, strategic facilitation, and community rooted consulting, he co creates innovative models with individuals, institutions, and communities grounded in the belief that collective well being is essential to transformation.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sustainability and African American Studies from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in Anthropology and Social Change from the California Institute of Integral Studies, with a focus on Gender, Ecology, and Postcolonial Studies. Beyond his professional work, Nile is a storyteller and creative whose passions include dance, writing, Afrofuturism, and cultural expression across the African Diaspora. He is currently completing his debut novel, Obsidian Resurrection, a Black futurist science fiction family centered thriller exploring power, healing, ancient rituals, revolution, and transformation, and writes on Substack, weaving together humor, ancestral wisdom, and insights on socio political, environmental, coaching, and consulting strategies.
Above all, Nile centers his role as a father to his teenage daughter and two teenage sons. As a wellness advocate, spiritual practitioner, and social entrepreneur, he remains committed to cultivating joy in the work and advancing a belief that change begins within and ripples outward.
Our Services
-
We treat evaluation as ritual. Our assessments are not just metrics, they’re mirrors. We help you measure what matters: alignment, impact, and healing. Through a culturally rooted and data-informed process, we surface equity gaps, movement tensions, and opportunities for transformation. The goal: strategic clarity with soul.
-
Your structure reflects your spirit. Whether building out nonprofit governance (C3/C4), shifting internal culture, business incubation, or evolving leadership flow, we help you root your systems in justice. Designed for mighty teams with lean capacity, we offer tools to elevate collective rhythm, trust, and long-term sustainability.
-
Resource work is spiritual work. We build fundraising strategies rooted in trust, reciprocity, and relationship, not scarcity or survival. We support grant writing, donor communications, and access to aligned networks.
-
Equity isn't a checkbox, it's a living practice. Humanity and human values form a critical ecosystem, much like nature itself. We offer assessments, trainings, and deep structural work to shift how power moves within your organization. We don't just analyze bias; we hold people accountable to it, co-designing cultures where justice is embodied at every level.
-
We coach with care and clarity. Whether you’re an emerging leader, seasoned executive, or team navigating transition, our coaching holds space for complexity. Grounded in somatics, spirit, community organizing, and strategy, we support leaders in moving from performance to purpose.
-
Conflict is sacred when handled with care. We facilitate spaces for healing, restoration, and transformation, not avoidance. Conflict avoidance is not creating harmony or is it step toward our healing journey. Drawing from somatics, African spiritual traditions, and movement wisdom, we support organizations in navigating rupture and returning to right relationship.
-
We design gatherings that feed the soul and sharpen the vision. Whether strategic retreats, trainings, or internal convenings, we create containers rooted in justice, spiritual grounding, and collective clarity. When we gather with intention, we shift what's possible.
