Meet Obsidian Edge
Transformative Coach, Funder Organizer, Climate Advocate, Equity Strategist, Co-parent, Youth Educator, and Men’s Wellness Coach, Community Weaver—committed to healing, collective power, and regenerative change.
Nile Malloy brings nearly three decades of experience as an interdisciplinary strategist working at the intersections of race, class, gender, education, and the environment. His work spans the nonprofit, public, philanthropic, education, and private sectors—advancing social, climate, economic and youth development initiatives both across the U.S. and internationally.
Nile has held leadership roles with Communities for a Better Environment, California Environmental Justice Alliance, Climate Justice Alliance, Rainforest Action Network, Artisan Hub, and the Neighborhood Funders Group. He is also a former professor at New College of California and has served as both a middle and high school educator. At Neighborhood Funders Group, he collaborated with dozens of philanthropic leaders to launch multi-million-dollar collaborative funds focused on public policy, affordable housing, climate resilience, and grassroots power building.
In 2025, Nile launched Obsidian Edge, a rebranded coaching and consulting practice dedicated to building a future where resources are distributed equitably, and systems reflect justice, liberation, healing, and cooperation. Obsidian Edge co-creates innovative models with individuals, institutions, and communities—rooted in mutual care and grounded in the belief that collective well-being is essential to transformation. Through leadership coaching, strategic facilitation, and community-rooted consulting, Nile helps design self-determined futures aligned with just transition, sustainability, and liberatory imagination.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sustainability and African American Studies from the University of Michigan, and a Master’s in Anthropology and Social Change from the California Institute of Integral Studies, with a focus on Gender, Ecology, and Postcolonial Studies. His worldview is deeply shaped by Black feminist and diasporic thought traditions that center the interconnection of healing and freedom, land and liberation, and spirit and strategy.
As a wellness advocate, life coach, and social entrepreneur, Nile practices a form of holistic leadership rooted in ancestral knowledge and postcolonial healing traditions. His coaching and facilitation focus on helping individuals and teams build emotional intelligence, restore internal balance, and lead with accountability and care. He facilitates trainings on power dynamics in the workplace, men’s health, and leadership development—particularly supporting men navigating life transitions such as divorce, fatherhood, and healing from patriarchal conditioning.
Beyond his professional work, Nile is a sacred earth enthusiast and creative writer, currently completing his debut novel, Obsidian Resurrection—a Black futurist, sci-fi family-centered thriller exploring power, healing, ancient rituals, revolution, and transformation. He also launched his Substack blog that weaves together stories, humor, ancestral wisdom, socio-political, environmental issues and personal reflections.
Above all, Nile cherishes his role as a father to his daughter and two teenage sons. He finds deep purpose in co-parenting and building community-based support systems that embody care, wholeness, and accountability.

Our Services

Description text goes hereWe treat evaluation as ritual. Our assessments are not just metrics—they’re mirrors. We help you measure what matters: alignment, impact, and healing. Through a culturally rooted and data-informed process, we surface equity gaps, movement tensions, and opportunities for transformation. The goal: strategic clarity with soul.
-
Your structure reflects your spirit. Whether building out nonprofit governance (C3/C4), shifting internal culture, or evolving leadership flow, we help you root your systems in justice. Designed for mighty teams with lean capacity, we offer tools to elevate collective rhythm, trust, and long-term sustainability.

We don’t do cookie-cutter plans—we co-create maps for liberation. Our process bridges long-term vision with short-term alignment, translating community wisdom into action steps that adapt as the beat changes. Strategy is movement work—and we make it soulful, structured, and grounded.
-
Resource work is spiritual work. We build fundraising strategies rooted in trust, reciprocity, and relationship—not scarcity or survival. We support grant writing, donor communications, and access to aligned networks—especially for BIPOC-led orgs that deserve to thrive, not hustle.
-
Equity isn’t a checkbox—it’s a living practice. We offer assessments, trainings, and deep architecture to shift how power moves within your organization. We don’t just analyze bias—we dismantle it, co-designing cultures where justice is embodied at every level
