OBSIDIAN EDGE
Principal, Obsidian Edge
Nile Malloy is an interdisciplinary strategist with nearly three decades of experience advancing equity-centered solutions across the nonprofit, public, philanthropic, education, and private sectors. His work lives at the intersections of race, class, gender, education, business, and environmental justice—supporting organizations, institutions, and leaders in translating mission into measurable, lasting impact. Nile's leadership has shaped social equity, climate justice, and regenerative economic efforts throughout the U.S., the Caribbean, and Africa.
Nile has held leadership roles with Communities for a Better Environment, California Environmental Justice Alliance, Climate Justice Alliance, Rainforest Action Network, Artisan Hub, and the Neighborhood Funders Group, where he collaborated with dozens of philanthropic leaders to launch multi-million-dollar collaborative funds focused on public policy, affordable housing, climate resilience, and grassroots power building. He has also served as a professor at New College of California and as a middle and high school educator, bringing a deep commitment to learning and leadership development across generations.
In 2025, Nile rebranded his consulting practice and launched Obsidian Edge, a coaching and consulting practice dedicated to building futures where resources are distributed equitably and systems reflect justice, liberation, healing, and cooperation. Through leadership coaching, strategic facilitation, and community-rooted consulting, he co-creates innovative models with individuals, institutions, and communities grounded in the belief that collective well-being is essential to transformation. His facilitation on power, masculinity, sustainability, and leadership invites a deeper reckoning with accountability, care, and the courage to change.
Rooted in healing and ancestral wisdom, Nile weaves culturally attuned practices that cultivate inner balance, authentic relationships, and leadership grounded in equity and spirit. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sustainability and African American Studies from the University of Michigan and a Master's in Anthropology and Social Change from the California Institute of Integral Studies, with a focus on Gender, Ecology, and Postcolonial Studies.
Beyond his professional path, his passion lives in movement and story, in dance, writing, Afrofuturism, and the sacred art of weaving the African Diaspora. He is currently completing his debut novel, Obsidian Resurrection, a Black futurist, sci-fi family-centered thriller exploring power, healing, ancient rituals, revolution, and transformation. His Substack blog weaves together stories, humor, ancestral wisdom, and socio-political, environmental, and personal reflection.
Above all, Nile cherishes his role as a father to his teenage daughter and two teenage sons, co-parenting with intention and building community-based support systems that embody care, wholeness, and accountability. A wellness advocate, spiritual practitioner, and social entrepreneur, he embodies a grounded joy that reminds us: change begins within, and ripples outward.

Resource work is spiritual work. We build fundraising strategies rooted in trust, reciprocity, and relationship—not scarcity or survival. We support grant writing, donor communications, and access to aligned networks—especially for BIPOC-led orgs that deserve to thrive, not hustle.
